Here's a top 5 list of things they do differently and you might want to write them down:
- GET SPECIFIC- When setting a goal, be as specific as possible. Generalization is weak. You need a clear picture and idea in your head. This will not only keep you motivated but allows you to see exactly what it is you want to succeed.
- ACT ON YOUR GOALS- Funny when we set goals, we get so wrapped around everything else and the business of life that when we get the opportunity to act on one, we let it slip through. Achieving those goals means seizing the opportunities before they disappear. Give yourself actual TIME. Time Management is a fantastic way to set aside time each week dedicated specifically to your goals. You will accomplish so much when you have the time set aside and you will feel incredible when you start checking those items off your list.
- BE A REALISTIC OPTIMIST- Look, everyone thinks they will succeed in all they do and don't get me wrong, there are those of you that actually will. Let's get real though, you set goals, HUGE goals, never underestimate how truly difficult it may be to reach them. Most goals that are truly worth reaching take time. They take persistence & planning.
- SHOW TRUE GRIT- Persistence, willingness to commit to the long term. Grit shows who is "in it to win it" and who is not. Studies have shown that military provide a grueling first year to truly see who has what it takes, who will tough it out and finish through. And if you think you don't have it, ensuring that the planning, persistence and effort are all things that can give you alittle. Remember, the obstacles you face really make you realize how badly you really want it in the first place. If it was worth the fight and sacrifice, than it was worth fighting for.
- FOCUS ON WHAT YOU WILL DO- Focused on quitting smoking or loosing weight? Then start planning on replacing bad habits with the great ones. Researchers have shown that focusing on something you DON'T WANT really makes you focus on that. When your out of work and searching for a job, you are only worrying about finding a job, not having money, etc. If you want a better job, more money, that house, that vacation you have always dream of, then start MAKING IT HAPPEN. Visualization may sound like that crazy, mumbo jumbo for spiritualists but I assure you, every single person who ever wanted something had a dream.
Do you read this list and think, WHOA......I am not any of those things, or do you read this list and think, I AM all of those things? The difference between those successful people and you are not so different if you break it down. And, on a personal note, one man, who in the days up till his death, fought and struggled like most of us with how to become successful and he has taught me more about succeeding than anyone could: Walt Disney. "If you can dream it, you can do it". Simple words, but if you have your goals and dreams in mind, see them, live them, breath them. Dreams do come true, just ask Walt.
